Passes and Tickets

Are you a regular BCTA rider?  Do you want to save money, and save yourself the aggravation of fumbling for bills and coins each time you take a trip?  If so, you may be interested in one of the following low-cost, prepaid forms of fare media offered by BCTA:

Day Pass  10+1 Trip Ticket 7-Day Pass

¡ø Customer purchases this directly from the driver for $3.25

¡ø Price includes unlimited trips within Beaver County from time of purchase until the end of the service day

¡ø Eliminates the hassle of requesting transfers on each trip

¡ø Unlike a transfer, the Day Pass can be used on return or continuing trips on the same route

¡ø This pass is non-transferable

When you use the Day Pass to take just one round trip, you’ve already saved 4-7% when compared to paying cash!  You save even more if you make multiple trips during the course of a day!

¡ø  Customer purchases this directly from BCTA or from one of our remote ticket outlets

¡ø  It is purchased for the fare value most frequently used:

¡ø As a convenience to customers that must transfer between a local and express route, BCTA offers a modified type of transfer

¡ø Most of the same rules that apply to a regular transfer also apply to an Express Transfer

¡ø Heres how it works:

o       In the morning, the customer:

¡ø Pays their express fare on the local feeder route

¡ø Receives an express fare

¡ø Boards the express route and presents the transfer

¡ø Pays no additional fare

o   In the afternoon, the customer:

¡ø Pays their express fare on the express route

¡ø Receives an express transfer

¡ø Boards the connecting route and presents the transfer

Pays no additional fare for trips within Beaver County

  Transfers

¡ø Are free and worth the base fare:

o  $2.00 full fare

o  $1.00 half fare

¡ø If you need to transfer to another route, and are not using one of our other forms of prepaid fare media to save money, simply request a transfer from your driver

¡ø Transfers are valid for two hours on any connecting route

¡ø Transfers cannot be used for return or continuing trips on the same route

¡ø Out-of-county passengers can also use a transfer by presenting the transfer and paying the applicable surcharge:

o   Route 1 out-of-county trips:  add $0.75

¡ø Using a transfer, you can travel between any two points we serve in Beaver County for one reasonable fare

¡ø A special transfer policy between the BCTA and the Port Authority of Allegheny County enables passengers to transfer, with certain restrictions, between BCTA routes and the following Port Authority routes:

o  16A in Aliquippa and Ambridge (BCTA transfers accepted on southbound Port Authority trips, Port Authority transfers accepted on northbound BCTA trips)

¡ø Under this transfer policy, each systems transfers and passes are worth the base fare (currently $2.00 in both cases) on the other system, with the customer paying any necessary zone charges out-of-pocket

¡ø Were sorry, but BCTA transfers can only be issued at the following designated transfer points:

o    Rochester

o    Expressway Travel Center

o    Aliquippa

o    Ambridge

Moreover, the transfer agreement between BCTA and the Port Authority is not in effect in Sewickley, downtown Pittsburgh, the North Side, or any other location not mentioned above
